The Holy Work of Motherhood

There’s a sacred kind of work that happens behind closed doors. In the middle of the night. On the floor of a messy kitchen. With a baby on your hip and tears in your eyes.
It’s not glamorous. It’s not easy. But it is holy.
Motherhood is one of the highest callings God can place on a woman’s life, and yet—let’s be honest—it can also feel like one of the heaviest.
There are days when the joy overflows. When your baby laughs, your toddler snuggles, your kids are getting along and laughing together, or your teenager surprises you with wisdom, and you think, Wow… maybe we’re doing okay.
And then there are the other days.
Days when the overwhelm is thick and your patience is thin.
Days when the laundry feels endless and the silence of your prayers feels louder than the chaos around you.
Days when you wonder if you’re getting any of it right.
I’ve been there. I still am, some days.
But here’s what I’m learning: biblical motherhood was never meant to be perfect. It was meant to be faithful.
From Eve, the first mother, to Jochebed- Moses' mother, to Mary, the mother of Jesus, God has always used ordinary mothers to carry out extraordinary things. And not one of them did it in their own strength.
“He gently leads those who have young.” – Isaiah 40:11
What a beautiful promise. God doesn’t drive us or demand from us. He gently leads. He equips. He sees us in the messy middle and says, You’re not alone. I’m with you in this.
Biblical motherhood is soul-shaping work—not just for our children, but for us. It stretches us, sanctifies us, and draws us closer to the heart of Jesus. Every diaper, every prayer, every bedtime story, every “I love you” whispered through tears—it all matters. It all plants seeds that will grow for generations.
You are not “just a mom.”
You are a kingdom builder.
You are not alone.
You are deeply seen and divinely supported.
You are not failing. You are faithfully showing up, and that is enough.
So today, I want to celebrate you, mama.
I celebrate the mother who keeps going when no one is watching.
The one who wipes tears and spills, sings lullabies, and carries the weight of her home with grace.
The one who loves fiercely, gives sacrificially, and clings to Jesus when her strength runs out.
Keep going. Keep trusting. Keep showing up.
Your motherhood matters—not just to your children, but to the One who gave them to you.
With all my love and respect,
Ayla
